Malm Orstad Defence - Solving complex challenges for the military marked
In Norway, there is a large focus on moving fish farming out of the fjords and further out to the open ocean. By doing this, one will meet more challenges than what is known with traditional fish farming. It will for example require more robust equipment and new technology as well as more strict requirements for documentation and approvals.

Malm Orstad has over 70 years acquired expertise in design and manufacture of hydraulic and mechanical equipment with high demands to reliability during use in harsh environment offshore. With this expertise, we are using known technology from the oil and gas industry, and customize it for use on offshore fish farms.

In close cooperation with our customers, we design and manufacture solutions and systems which are tailored for this "new" environment and which highly emphasize fish welfare, efficiency, HSE, regulatory requirements, etc.

Malm Orstad is proud to be one of the core suppliers of the world's first offshore fish farm - Ocean Farm 1. For this, we have developed, fabricated and installed a drive system for a moveable bulkhead that has a significant function of the fish farm. Watch the video below for more information:
